As a female founder, I am taking my part in celebrating International Women’s Day this 2019.
The campaign this year is entitled #BalanceforBetter, a hashtag created as awareness for everyone to assist in building a gender-balanced world.
This reminds me of my business visit last year.
As I toured around the office, the floor was divided into two areas: one side of the floor was where the administrative officers sat and the other side was dedicated to consultants.
I noticed that on the consultants’ area, there was not one female consultant.
Why is there not more female consultants, I thought.
Through this article, I hope to unite all the women in the Software Consulting niche and other industries that are stereotyped by men: Manufacturing, Construction, Mechanics, Electronics & Engineering, Law Enforcement, Software Development, etc.
Do you know someone who works at these industries?
Let’s take a moment to admire their courage in breaking the norm.
Let’s encourage them to continue what they do, to make them feel that what they’re doing is extraordinary and will not go unnoticed.
Let’s recognize their unconscious effort in taking one step further in making Earth a gender-balanced planet.
And to all those women who has the talent and willingness to try but still feel guarded by the stereotypes that only men could succeed in those roles..
Let’s raise the awareness that they must have the right to be provided with equal opportunities!

This one’s a good quote from Mary Kay’s Founder, Mary Kay Ash. It’s useful for us women who are striving every day in a world that is gender-stereotyped. It’s a reminder for dreamers that we shouldn’t limit ourselves from what we could achieve.
Don’t limit yourself. Many people limit themselves to what they think they can do. You can go as far as your mind lets you. What you believe, remember, you can achieve.
